CV triggered SK1 sampler
Monday, November 24th, 2008 | Posted in casperstuff
Just did this recording tonight. I modified a Casio SK1 so that I could trigger the “ONE KEY PLAY” feature using pulses from the modular synth. “ONE KEY PLAY” is a feature that works with the SK1s internal sequencer. Once you have recorded a melody into the sequencer you can play it back one note at a time by pressing the “ONE KEY PLAY” button. So I did a VERY simple mod which lets me trigger the OKP with a voltage pulse.
Then I sent one of the FX send channels from my mixer into the mic in on the SK1. THEN i triggered the samples back with the modular synth clock. This effect is all over this recording. You can hear it right at the beginning

I’m playing at the Silent Barn on November 21. This is a show put on by Scrapcycle so it should be a good one! All hand made instruments.
sequencer madness

I added a few inputs to my sequencer that allow you to advance the playback one step at a time using external clock sources. I connected two independent clocks to the sequencer. One is telling it to go forward the other is telling it to go backwards. As i adjust the two clocks you can see them fight for control of the sequence. Pretty simple but cool effect.
